Former DP Rigathi Gachagua on Monday, May 11, joined mourners in Tetu Constituency, Nyeri County, for the burial service of Rev. Julius Ngari Ndumia, the Parish Minister of PCEA Tabuga Parish under Nakuru East Presbytery.
The solemn ceremony brought together clergy, family members, and residents who gathered to pay their final respects to the late man of God, whose life was cut short under tragic circumstances.
Rev. Ndumia is reported to have been brutally murdered in an incident that has shocked both the church and the wider community.
Speaking during the burial, Gachagua expressed deep sorrow over the killing, describing it as a painful loss not only to the family but also to the Christian fraternity in Kenya.
He called for calm as he urged security agencies to ensure those responsible for the heinous act are arrested and prosecuted without delay.
Quoting scripture from John 15:20, he reminded mourners that persecution of servants of God is not new, emphasizing the need for faith and resilience during times of grief and uncertainty.
He extended his condolences to the bereaved family, the clergy of the Presbyterian Church of East Africa, and Christians across the country, urging them to remain strong in faith.
Gachagua further stressed that human life is sacred and must be protected at all costs, adding that no justification can exist for such acts of violence.
He called on authorities to strengthen security and ensure justice is served for Rev. Ndumia.
He prayed for peace for the departed cleric and comfort for his family, stating that the church and the nation must stand united in demanding justice and safeguarding human dignity.
