East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) Member of Parliament Kanini Kega has officially joined the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP).
The announcement was made on social media, where Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua welcomed Kega to the party.
“Welcome home Hon Kanini Kega,” Gachagua wrote, describing the DCP as “the home of progressive leaders who desire leadership in the future.”
Under Gachagua’s leadership, the DCP has been actively positioning itself as an inclusive political platform.
The party has emphasized fair competition, merit-based leadership, and support for committed politicians.
This move is seen as part of broader efforts to attract experienced leaders and strengthen the party’s presence ahead of the next elections.
Political analysts say Kega’s joining could boost the DCP’s visibility and influence, particularly given his experience in the East African Legislative Assembly and his established political base.
The development reflects a trend in Kenyan politics where seasoned leaders seek parties that align with their vision and offer a platform for meaningful participation in shaping the country’s future.
With the 2027 elections approaching, movements like this highlight the ongoing reshuffling in Kenya’s political landscape, as leaders and parties strategize to secure support and build alliances.
