Central Police Station OCS Dishen Angoya has been released after his arrest over the alleged release of protest-related detainees.
Former Law Society of Kenya President Faith Odhiambo confirmed that a team of advocates followed up on the arrest and detention of the senior police officer.
OCS Seeks Medical Attention
According to Odhiambo, Angoya later sought medical attention after his release and is now recovering steadily.
She stated that the officer recorded a statement explaining the circumstances surrounding his arrest. The legal team expressed confidence that authorities would resolve the matter fairly.
Arrest Linked to Protest Suspects
The case revolves around the alleged release of 64 individuals arrested during anti-fuel protests and public order demonstrations in Nairobi.
Reports indicate authorities arrested Angoya after the suspects left custody under unclear circumstances. Investigators questioned whether the officer acted without proper authority.
The arrest came amid heightened tension following nationwide demonstrations over fuel prices and the rising cost of living.
LSK Lawyers Followed Case
The Law Society of Kenya confirmed that its advocates monitored the case after reports emerged about the arrest of the Central Police Station OCS.
Senior Counsel Charles Kanjama also stated that lawyers are representing several protesters arrested during the demonstrations.
Authorities continue investigating incidents linked to the protests as legal proceedings involving arrested demonstrators continue in different courts.
