Job Description

Position: Polling/Counting Clerk
Reporting to: Presiding Officer

Duties and Responsibilities

The Polling/Counting Clerk will be responsible for:

  • Assisting in the layout of the polling station and counting room.
  • Demarcating and displaying official posters at the polling station.
  • Controlling queues and guiding voters to the appropriate polling stations.
  • Inspecting voters’ fingers for indelible ink to confirm they have not already voted.
  • Identifying voters before issuing ballot papers.
  • Issuing stamped ballot papers to voters duly identified in the register of voters.
  • Assisting the Presiding Officer in sorting votes after polling as part of the counting process.
  • Performing any other official duties as may be assigned by the Presiding Officer.


Job Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be Kenyan citizens of high integrity and strictly non-partisan.
  • Hold a minimum of KCSE aggregate grade C- (minus) or above.
  • Be of good character.
  • Be available for the entire period of the electoral exercise.
  • Be residents of the constituency or county assembly ward in which they apply.


Wages
  • Polling/Counting Clerks will be paid Kshs. 1,000 per day.
