A shocking tragedy unfolded in Waverly, Tennessee when authorities discovered four members of the same family dead in their home.
The victims were identified as Heather Thompson, 32, her sons Arius Thompson, 4, Isaiah Johnson, 13, and their great-grandmother, Evelyn Johnson, 88.
Investigators confirmed that all four died from gunshot wounds. Preliminary evidence suggests Heather Thompson was responsible for the killings before taking her own life. Authorities say there is no indication anyone else was involved.

Heather Thompson worked as a nurse at Ascension Saint Thomas Three Rivers Hospital and held a master’s degree from Walden University. The family had lived in Waverly their entire lives.
Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis, who personally knew the family, described the tragedy as devastating. Referencing a previous explosion in the county that killed sixteen people, he said the loss hits the small-town community hard.
“Here again, small-town America. Here again, I know the families,” he said. “We’re going to do right by them. We’re going to respect them. We’re going to do right by them.”
The sheriff urged the community to support each other and come together to heal after this heartbreaking loss.
