Johana Ng’eno, the Member of Parliament for Emurua Dikirr, is among six people who died in a tragic helicopter crash in Mosop on Saturday, February 28, 2026.
The aircraft went down in a remote section of Nandi County under circumstances that investigators are still working to establish. Emergency responders and security agencies quickly secured the crash site as recovery efforts began.
Sources close to the ongoing investigation revealed that authorities recovered a mobile phone and SIM card believed to belong to the late legislator at the scene. Similar gadgets were also found belonging to Amos Kipngetich Rotich, an officer attached to the Kenya Forest Service.
Police have confirmed that efforts are underway to identify the remaining four occupants of the ill-fated helicopter. Forensic teams are expected to analyze the recovered items as part of broader investigations into the cause of the crash.
Ng’eno first entered Parliament in 2013 and retained his seat in both the 2017 and 2022 General Elections. His sudden death marks a significant political loss for his constituency and sets the stage for a by-election in Emurua Dikirr. Authorities have promised to release more details once investigations progress.
