The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced 12,520 temporary job opportunities ahead of a 30-day Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR) exercise.
The commission said the ward-level exercise aims to strengthen the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) currently conducted at constituency offices across the country. The targeted drive seeks to boost voter registration and update the national voter roll.
IEBC is inviting applications from qualified candidates to fill three temporary roles during the ECVR period.
Available Positions
The commission is recruiting 1,450 Voter Registration Assistants. These officers will supervise voter registration clerks at the ward level and help plan KIEMS kit movement schedules. They will also collate and submit voter registration data, ensure the security of materials and equipment, and report registration progress.
IEBC is also hiring 10,780 Voter Registration Clerks. This is the largest category of vacancies announced. Clerks will operate biometric registration kits, including KIEMS and VIU tablets.
They will verify applicants’ eligibility under electoral laws and guide citizens through registration requirements. Clerks will assist applicants in completing forms accurately and ensure safe custody of equipment and data. They must also transmit voter registration data daily and uphold IEBC’s code of conduct, data protection, and confidentiality standards.
In addition, the commission seeks 290 ICT Clerks. These officers will set up, configure, and operate KIEMS kits and related ICT equipment.
ICT clerks will provide first-level technical support and troubleshoot hardware, software, and connectivity issues. They will support secure transmission and backup of voter registration data. The role also requires maintaining ICT logs, incident reports, and equipment handover records. ICT clerks will assist in training voter registration officials on basic ICT operations.
How to Apply
IEBC has directed interested applicants to submit their applications online. The deadline for submitting applications is March 4, 2026.
The commission emphasized that it is an equal opportunity employer. It warned that any form of canvassing will lead to automatic disqualification.
The 30-day Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration exercise forms part of IEBC’s broader efforts to strengthen electoral preparedness. By expanding registration at the ward level, the commission aims to increase access and ensure more eligible Kenyans register as voters.
Applicants are encouraged to review qualification requirements and submit applications before the deadline.
