He said motorists experience severe delays after Githurai stretching toward Museum Hill. The President stated that the planned expressway will run from Thika to Museum Hill.
He explained that the project aims to ease traffic and improve mobility along the busy corridor.
Ruto compared the proposed project to the Nairobi Expressway linking Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to Westlands. He said the government intends to replicate a similar model to address congestion on the Thika route.
“This jam, after passing Githurai, disturbs people until it reaches Museum Hill,” Ruto said. He assured congregants that he would return in September to launch construction works.
The Thika corridor serves thousands of commuters daily from Kiambu County into Nairobi. The President said the new expressway will reduce travel time and enhance efficiency for businesses and residents.
