A court in Nakuru has sentenced 20-year-old Mercy Mwende to 20 years in prison after finding her guilty of defilement in a case that has sparked widespread debate across the country.
Mwende, a resident of Sotik in Bomet County, had sat for her Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams in 2022, attaining a C+ grade before the incident that led to her conviction.
