A photo of Emmanuel Kimutai, the 12-year-old Grade Six pupil from Kipisarwet village, Bomet County, who was allegedly beaten to death by his father over bread and milk, has now surfaced online, drawing renewed public outrage.
The image, widely shared across social media platforms, has put a face to the tragic story that has gripped the nation. Many Kenyans who had only read or heard about the case say seeing Emmanuel’s picture has made the loss even more heartbreaking.
Emmanuel is said to have met his death after reportedly eating bread and milk belonging to a neighbour. An autopsy revealed that he suffered internal bleeding, chest injuries, and severe lung damage, which led to breathing complications and ultimately his death.
The surfacing of his photo has reignited calls for justice, with rights activists and members of the public urging authorities to expedite investigations and ensure accountability.
The boy’s mother, who earlier narrated her anguish, has appealed for justice, saying Emmanuel died a day before his school’s Prayer Day event.
As the image circulates online, Kenyans continue to express anger and sadness, with many demanding harsher penalties for parents or guardians who subject children to abuse.
