Sad as Kericho Man Kills Mother, Child and Sister-in-Law Before Mob Lynching

A man turned on his family and killed three relatives before being lynched by an irate mob in Samutet village, Kericho County, on Thursday.

Witnesses said the man hacked his mother, a child, and his sister-in-law to death in their homestead under circumstances that remain unclear.

Shocked by the brutality of the attack, residents quickly mobilized and descended on him, beating him mercilessly until he succumbed to his injuries.

By the time police arrived at the scene, the man was already dead. Officers moved in to calm the charged crowd and secure the area, later transferring all the bodies to the mortuary. The exact cause of the attack was not immediately established, and authorities have yet to provide a clear explanation for the tragedy.

Local residents described the killings as the most horrifying event the quiet village has witnessed in recent memory. Many were left in disbelief that the man, who was known to them, could commit such violence against his own family.

Some villagers said the attack appeared sudden and unprovoked, fueling speculation about his mental state, though this could not be independently confirmed.

Police have launched investigations into the case, promising to piece together events leading up to the murders and the subsequent lynching.

They also appealed to the public to avoid taking the law into their own hands, even in moments of anger, warning that mob justice often complicates investigations and denies due process.
