Nairobi County Official Geoffrey Mosiria has shared a harrowing account after rescuing a severely injured young boy abandoned near AIC Milimani Church along State House Avenue on Tuesday afternoon.
According to Mosiria, his heart “felt heavy” upon arriving at the scene following a distress call from a concerned colleague who spotted the ailing child lying helplessly on the streets without food or care. Geoffrey mosiria shared heartbreaking video of the boy.
The boy was extremely weak, in visible pain, and struggling to walk. Mosiria revealed that he had a large, infected wound on his leg and buttocks that had been left untreated for so long that maggots had developed.
Passersby described an air of despair around the child, who appeared scared and exhausted. His clothes were torn and dirty, and his condition clearly indicated he had been alone for days without proper nourishment or dignity.
Mosiria and his team quickly stepped in, gently washing and cleaning his wounds before dressing him in fresh clothes. Photos shared on social media showed the boy being comforted and reassured that he was now safe.
Through tears, the child disclosed that he had been chased away from home following disagreements with his parents. Mosiria stressed that disagreements should never lead to abandonment, especially for vulnerable children.
“No matter the mistake, abandonment should never be the answer,” Mosiria said. “Every child deserves love, guidance and protection. A child on the streets is not just a family failure; it is a collective responsibility.”
The boy was swiftly rushed to Mbagathi Hospital for urgent medical intervention. Hospital sources confirmed he is now receiving intensive care and that authorities are monitoring his recovery closely.
Mosiria used the incident to appeal to families across the county to prioritise the welfare of their children. He urged parents to correct and guide their children, but never cast them aside when they falter.
The emotional rescue has sparked public conversation on social media about child protection, family responsibility, and the plight of vulnerable children in Nairobi’s streets.
