The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) is a State Corporation under the Ministry of Roads and Transport. It was established under the Kenya Roads Act, 2007, with the mandate to manage, develop, rehabilitate, and maintain national trunk roads.
In order to fulfil this mandate effectively, the Authority seeks to recruit qualified, creative, and proactive Kenyan citizens who can adapt to a dynamic work environment to fill the following position:
Assistant Office Administrator II
This position is responsible for providing administrative and secretarial support, ensuring the smooth operation of office activities, and serving as a key link between the Authority and its stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities
The officer will be required to:
- Type routine correspondence.
- Manage correspondence, including emails and letters.
- Handle telephone calls and attend to customers.
- Schedule and facilitate meetings.
- Operate and ensure the security of office equipment, documents, and records.
- Make travel arrangements for departmental staff.
- Receive and attend to visitors and clients.
- Manage appointments and office diaries.
- Handle office petty cash.
The purpose of this position is to drive the Authority’s vehicles and ensure their proper maintenance through routine checks on cooling systems, oil, electrical and brake systems, tyre pressure, and other related functions.
Job Description
Duties and responsibilities at this level will include:
- Driving vehicles as authorized.
- Ensuring the security and safety of the vehicle, passengers, and goods on and off the road.
- Maintaining daily work ticket(s).
- Carrying out routine checks on cooling, oil, electrical, and brake systems, as well as tyre pressure.
- Detecting and reporting vehicle defects in a timely manner.
- Ensuring cleanliness of the vehicle.
- Promptly reporting accidents and following up on police abstracts.
- Presenting vehicles for inspection and ensuring up-to-date insurance documentation.
Compliance with Chapter Six of the Constitution
Prospective candidates must meet the requirements of leadership and integrity as set out in Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya. Shortlisted applicants will be required to present the following valid clearances during the interview:
- Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) Clearance Certificate
- Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) Tax Compliance Certificate
- Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) Clearance Certificate or proof of ongoing repayment
- Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI)
- Credit Reference Bureau (CRB) Clearance Certificate
