Residents across seven counties should brace for an eight-hour power interruption on Thursday, March 19, 2026, after Kenya Power announced scheduled maintenance works.
The 4 outage will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., affecting parts of Nairobi, Kitui, Nyamira, Uasin Gishu, Nyeri, Kirinyaga and Kiambu counties.
In Nairobi County, the blackout will hit Kiamumbi and parts of Kahawa West. Areas listed include Midas, Sidia Farm and Kamiti Prison, alongside surrounding customers.
In Kitui County, the interruption will affect Tulia, Muthale and Kakeani areas. Markets such as Tulia, Muthale, Kakeani, Uvaani, Yalatan, Kangondi and Kasue will be impacted.
Institutions including Muthale Mission Hospital, Muthale Girls, Mutonguni Girls and Kangii Secondary School will also experience the outage, alongside nearby homes and businesses.
In Nyamira County, areas around Nyansiongo and Manga will go without electricity. Nyansiongo Tea, Highland Creamers, Kijauri, Laitigo, Tinderet, Metamaywa and Rigoko Secondary School are among affected locations.
Parts of Uasin Gishu County including Maili Nne, Kapchumba and Kapkeben will also face the day-long outage. Petrocity and sections of Maili Nne Centre are listed among affected premises.
In Nyeri County, Kihari and Waihara areas will be switched off. Several markets and institutions including Othaya Boys, Othaya Approved School and multiple tea buying centres will be affected.
Kirinyaga County residents in Kagumo Town and Gatwe Market will experience similar interruptions. Nearby villages, markets and tea buying centres have been included in the notice.
In Kiambu County, the outage will affect Kawaida, Nazareth and Riara areas. Gatatha Farmers, Nazareth Hospital, Black Petals, Koba Waters and Takataka Solutions are among listed customers.
Kenya Power says the maintenance is necessary to improve service reliability. Residents and businesses are advised to plan accordingly and make alternative arrangements during the outage period.
