Kenya Power has warned of planned electricity interruptions across several counties tomorrow, Wednesday, March 18, 2026, citing routine maintenance as the reason for the scheduled blackouts.
In Nairobi, parts of Parklands will lose power from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Areas affected include Parklands Road, Parklands Police Station, Sivachi Road, The Crescent Road, Maua Close, Movena Pick Hotel, and Mayfair Casino.
Ruai residents should expect outages from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Locations impacted include Quickmart Supermarket, Ruai Family Hospital, Kamulu, Stage 26, Kanisani, Ngundu, and surrounding customers.
Kajiado County will experience power cuts in Lower Matasia and Ngong Hills areas from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Areas affected include Kamula, Barabara Mpya, Kahara St Patrick, Mwalimu Road, Oleteyani, Ilimasin, Olooses, Kisamis, Homeboys, Lingaloj, and Ilidoriak.
In Nakuru County, electricity will be interrupted in Maai Mahiu and surrounding areas from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Locations affected include Maai Mahiu Town, Governor, Muniui, Old Kijabe, IDP Camps, Longonot, Kiambogo, and Sission.
Kakamega County residents in Mususaga and Malava Market areas will face outages from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm. Affected areas include Musaga, Samitsi, Malanga, Malava Market, Malichi, Tumbeni, Kakoyi, Kambi Mwanza Market, and Shamberere.
In Kisumu County, power will be interrupted at Kibigori and Chepsweta markets from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, affecting surrounding customers.
Migori County will experience outages in Obama, Kokuro Secondary School, Gamba, Nyatambe, Ondome, Siruti, and Odongo Oher, including nearby customers.
Central region counties are also affected. In Nyeri, Kiamabara and Mukangu will experience outages from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Key locations affected include Kirigu Coffee Factory, Gatina Market, Gakuyu Secondary School, Mukangu Dispensary, and nearby villages.
Kiambu County will experience power cuts in Kagwe, Kamburu, and Gatamaiyu from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Areas affected include Ngeteti Village, Kagwe Shops, Kagwe Tea Factory, Matimbei Market, Kagaa Market, Gatamaiyu Market, and Nyanduma Market.
Kenya Power Managing Director Joseph Siror noted that 50–70% of outages are caused by trees and vegetation interfering with power lines, highlighting ongoing efforts to clear vegetation along transmission routes.
Residents are advised to plan accordingly and safeguard electrical appliances during the scheduled maintenance periods to avoid inconvenience.
